The Chile-Shenzhen Economic and Trade Exchange & City Image Promotion Conference was held on May 31 at Le Méridien Hotel in Santiago, capital of Chile. Co-hosted by Shenzhen Overseas Friendship Association, Federation of Industry and Commerce of Bao’an District, Shenzhen, and the General Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Chile, the event drew more than 100 attendees, including Chen Yifan, Director of the Consular Department of the Chinese Embassy in Chile; Wang Qiang, President of Shenzhen Overseas Friendship Association; Ignacio, Asia-Pacific Officer of ProChile under Chile’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Juan Mena, Councilor of Santiago Metropolitan City; Fernando Reyes, Chairman of Chile-China Cultural Association and former Chilean Ambassador to China; Luis Schmidt, former Chilean Ambassador to China, as well as entrepreneurs and chamber representatives from Shenzhen, China, and overseas Chinese community representatives in Chile.

During the conference, representatives from Shenzhen Municipal Bureau of Commerce and Chilean officials introduced local business environments and relevant policies respectively. On-site project negotiations and signing ceremonies between entrepreneurs and chamber representatives of both countries were held, with the total contracted value reaching 1 billion US dollars.

Following the business sessions, a donation ceremony took place. Shenzhen CLT Technology Co., Ltd. donated a batch of high-definition outdoor LED displays to the China Park in Chile.

Witnessed by city representatives of both sides, the donated outdoor LED displays belong to the TB series, CLT’s standardized fixed-installation outdoor products developed for the global professional display market. Fabricated with aluminum profiles, the TB series features light weight, high precision, ultra-slim profile and excellent thermal conductivity. Its standardized cabinets support multiple pixel pitches. The whole cabinet achieves IP65 waterproof rating for bare outdoor installation, and the modules are dust and water accumulation resistant. Widely deployed for outdoor media advertisements and highway billboards, these screens will be installed inside China Park in Chile as a stunning landmark. They will showcase culture, history and scenery of China and Chile, and deliver premium visual effects and promotional support for various park events.

Meanwhile, Wang Hexing, President of the General Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Chile, Director of Chile Chinese Assistance Center and host of the event, pointed out that Chile is one of the earliest countries to join the Belt and Road Initiative. Such exchanges deepen mutual understanding between entrepreneurs of the two nations and uncover more business opportunities. Chile and Shenzhen enjoy strong economic complementarity. Endowed with abundant natural resources, Chile is a major global mining country and an important base for production and processing of high-quality agricultural, animal husbandry and fishery products, yet it lacks high-tech manufacturing and processing capacity. By contrast, Shenzhen boasts advanced technologies and equipment, world-leading intelligent production and processing for agricultural and industrial products, and huge consumer markets.

Entrepreneurs from both regions expressed that they will take this economic and trade exchange as an opportunity to deepen cooperation in fruit and crop imports, clean energy, digital economy, technological innovation and other sectors, foster new growth drivers for cooperation, expand investment and trade, and advance shared prosperity of both regions, making greater contributions to high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.
